International Travel with a Visions Credit/Debit Card
International Travel - You may not be able to use a Visions credit/debit card in every country you visit!
The Credit Union has initiated an additional Fraud Prevention Program to protect your credit and debit card, especially during international travel. Because of the new protection there may be some instances where your transaction could be declined if the activity is considered extremely suspicious.
Due to a large amount of fraud, some areas of the world may have certain transactions blocked for credit/debit card usage. Good practices when travelling:
- contact Visions before you leave for updates on acceptance
- carry two types of cards in case one does not work or is not accepted
- buy foreign currency and/or Travelers Cheques before you leave for your trip
- have a backup plan. Foreign banking systems are unlike ours.
Also, if you plan to travel abroad, please notify us at (607) 754-7900, ext. 266, so our fraud prevention area may monitor your out-of-country transactions. And, please continue to review your statements, view your accounts online, or through PAT to ensure all transactions are yours.
Visions ensures the security of your information with world-class:
- Information and access code encryption
- Digital signatures
- Firewalls
- Physical security measures
All internet access to Visions must pass through secure zones and firewalls that are employed to protect member security. As part of our environment, we have intrusion detection systems that are monitored for intrusion attempts, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Password Protection & Data Security - Member's passwords are stored in an encrypted format and no one, including Visions employees, has access to those passwords. Account information is transmitted using a technology called Secure Socket Layers (SSL), which creates the encrypted connection.
Audits and Inspections - Visions security infrastructure is regularly audited and inspected by external firms that specialize in security processes and technologies.
Virus Protection - All email into and out of Visions is scanned for viruses. Visions state-of-the-art virus detection software allows us to add "rules" for additional protection and automatically checks the software provider's web site for updated virus signatures on a daily basis.
Physical Security - Visions restricts access to computer servers to those personnel who require access as part of their job description.
As we move forward with future remote access services, you can be assured that Visions will continue to use the latest Internet security measures available to protect your confidential information.
